Getting dressed for work can be a tiresome task. Well to end this confusion we asked India’s top designers Aniket Satnam, Sannam Chopra, Pria Kataaria Puri and Indira Ghosh Baikerikar on what works for work. Here are their insights:
Functionality: Functionality is very important while you are at work. At work there is a lot of movement so comfortable and functional clothes are a must. “Functional classic yet fashionable handbag for work along with laptop bag is a must,” says Pria. She also stresses that right footwear “comfortable, good quality, trendy work shoes like wedges or flats are a musts”.
Funky Chic: Just because it has to be functional, your wardrobe should never be boring. The styles should be coordinated with your profession. “In today’s world there are various styles that can be worn to work. If you work as a stylist or freelancer pick funky casuals like dhoti pants with shift tops. Women into corporate world can wear strap dresses; semiformal shirts with trousers or pants work too. For Indian look opt for a straight kurti with ankle length pants or a digital prints saree with some stripes or monochrome prints”, says designer Indira Ghosh Baikerikar.
Accessorise right: The right accessories can glam up any outfit. An elegant handbag, a pair of sunglasses and a smart watch. “A bright scarf to make the dullest outfits look great,” says Pria.
Black: “Blacks, neutrals and androgynous piece can easily make you look fabulous,” says designer Aniket Satnam. “A timeless classic LBD is the answer for all wear woes,” he adds.
Be neat: Fizzy hair, chipped nails never really add to your look. Designer Sannam Chopra says, “Kohl liner can bring alive your eyes for those early morning meetings and if you don’t have time to blow dry your hair, just twirl or braid sections with a clip into a neat bun.”
