My knowledge of Thai food was limited to Thai curries and Pad Thai but a visit to Mei Kun has changed that. I’m in love with Thai food, it has a literally an enlightenment to eat Thai food beyond coconut curries.
Mei Kun Thai food festival: Kempinski Ambience Hotel hosts the Thai Food Festival at Mei Kun, the Asian restaurant from 10 July – 19 July, 2015. Chef Kwanruean Saegsitong has travelled all the way from Siam Kempinski Bangkok
to give the diners an authentic taste of her homeland, Thailand.

Some of the signature dishes include ‘Phad Phak Ruam Mitr’ Mixed vegetables in soya sauce, ‘Gaeng Kiew Wan Gai’ Roasted Duck in Red Curry, ‘Phad Thai Goong’ Fried Thin Rice Noodles, Shrimp with Eggs among others. The exclusive menu crafted by the visiting Chef Kwan, paired with the serene ambience at Mei Kun promises to make an unforgettable journey for all diners.
Must
orders: Try the Phad Thai its sweet and spicy, the kinds you will go back to eat more. The Tom Kha Pak is a coconut flavoured soup with vegetables and a hint of spices to give it a subtle kick, comfort food at its best. Yam Sam O is a spicy pomelo salad with a hint of chillies and vegetables, it was truly tasty and a lot better than the usual Thai salad which we are served.
The
Musamun Gai is chicken in musamun curry is must gor chicken lovers. The chicken is tenderly cooked in a sweet curry with small pieces of potato. Mhoo Phad Prig Thai dum is succulent pieces of juicy pork cooked in peppercorn sauce.
The desserts are sweet but not over the top loaded with sugar. They rely on their natural sweetness like the famous sticky rice and mango.
Will I visit again? Yes for sure! The Phad Thai will have me running back soon.
