What happens when you go for a bloggers table to an uptown CP cafe called Public Connection? Well, exactly as the restaurant’s name you make amazing public connections. It was one fun filled afternoon of making new friends and reviving old friendships.
Public connection is a quirky cafe which serves awesome drinks, great nibbles and hookahs. It is the kind of place you would enjoy with your friends for an evening.
Price for two: The cafe is moderately priced and a meal for two will set you back by 2000 INR but this includes a few drinks as well. The portion sizes are amazing.
Ambience: right now CP seems to be under going a huge makeover with restaurants popping up left, right and centre. The aim is to stand out and Cafe Public Connection stands out with its exquisite quirky interiors. From domes as roofs, to a wall dedicated to old school telephones it’s quirk overload! They have separate rooms if you have a big group and want to party alone and each room has a theme from sports, Hollywood, to many other just take your pick and sit there for awesome times. Personally I feel this is a great idea if you plan a small theme party for friends.
The rooftop, where they also serve hookah, is perfect for Delhi ki sardi. The balcony overlooks the central gardens and the sunshine warms your soul.
Food: The food served to us was a preset menu so I couldn’t experiment or try foods I would have liked. In terms of the starters the Chicken shish touk is great for starters, it comes with pita breads a small salad, hummus and a hung curd dip. The mutton kebabs are nice and work well with drinks. For the veggie crowd the Hummus and falafel platter is a great option. The chilly chicken is
passable and tastes average. The fish fingers are usual with no special flavours.
The main course is a different story. The dal makhani is creamy yummy but a tad too creamy, however it works well with Punjabi people. The star and stellar dish we had was their Mutton Roganjosh. The mutton was soft and well cooked in perfect flavourful gravy. The chicken in black bean sauce was average. Indian Chinese is clearly not their thing. The Brownie is amazing, the best I have had in a while its soft, velvet like chocolatey wonder which I had two of!
Drinks: As I told you, this was a preset menu and they presented drinks which are different than the rest, mostly cocktails. Their drinks ate surely
their USP. The drinks follow the theme rooms so their are special retro, hollywood, sports and so on theme based drinks. The cocktails were mostly spice based with cardamom and clove being key flavours. Their serving style blew me over. The sports drink cocktail called energy sipper came in the sipper you would carry to the gym.
The Hello Jamaica is served inside a old school British phone booth and is a great option for friends to have together. The minimum size is a liter and that has enough alcohol for 6 people. The cocktail has a subtle cardamom aftertaste.
Must haves: The cocktails. I can’t wait to have the phone booth cocktail with my girl friends.
The shish touk, mutton kebabs are amazing. The brownie has Mr salivating for that rich creamy flavours.
My experience: This of the kind of place where you would go to connect socially with friends and not to fine dine and it works perfectly well for those meetings. Plus the out doors shall be a huge hit this winter season.
