The wait is finally over… The trailer of Aamir Khan’s new wrestling biopic, Dangal is finally out, and we cannot stop talking about it. We cannot wait to watch the movie for the simple reason that it is based on real life incidents.
The movie is about a Haryanvi wrestler, Mahavir Singh Phogat, who inspires nd trains his daughters to become world class wrestlers. The trailer shows Aamir as the threatening as well as wise wrestling coach.
Before the movie releases, let’s take a sneak peek into real Mahavir Singh Phogat’s life.
Mahavir was born in a village called Balali in Haryana. He has two daughters, Babita Kumari and Geeta Phogat. He has always been the super dad who used to pamper his girls, but at the same time make them strong and tough. He had the dream to make his daughters world- class wrestlers.
He battles with a lot of hardships to get his daughters where they are today. He came from a financially weak background, but never gave up. His wife, Daya Kaur stock like a pillar of strength through this journey.
Mahavir started training his daughters at an early age. Earlier it was some simple running in the farm, but later he made them fight boys. He is an inspiring and talented coach. He believes, if a women can become the Prime Minister, then why not a wrestler.
He also trained his brother’s daughters. Sangita, Priyanka, Vinesh, Ritu, Babita and Geeta are known as the “Phogat Siters” are simply inspiring.
His daughter Geeta was the first female to ever win a Gold medalist at Commonwealth Games 2010. Babita too wasn’t behind and won a Gold medal at the Commonwealth Games 2014.
Mahavir has won the Dronacharya Award for excellent coachin skills by training the Phogat Sister. We salute his efforts and thinking. People like him inspire others for better.
