In her LOVE Advent Calendar video, Gigi Hadid flashes hairy armpits and fans are having a difficult time to understand the authenticity of the campaign.
Once more Gigi Hadid has taken the internet by storm. But this time it is not because of her fashion collaborations or makeup. The star recently, she showed her armpits with hair, in a photo shoot for LOVE advent calendar. All the Netizens found it difficult to decide whether it was hairy armpits or just dark patches. Though the sources from Gigi’s side claim, it was just a fabric residue from her jacket. People have formed the idea that unruly body hair is now just a commodity for brands to garner publicity.
As the top paid models Gigi and her sister, Bella experience a lot of scrutiny from social media with their every move. A while ago Gigi was called out for cultural appropriation and being an ignorant racist. Now she is being labeled as a fake feminist!
In the video, she can be seen wearing a crop top and shorts, both in red color, and Gigi shows off her Volleyball moves and kickboxing skills, after saying, “I’, Gigi Hadid. Today is free form day.”
This controversy took us back to Priyanka Chopra’s perfectly flawless armpits on the cover of Maxim. The picture was accused to be overly photoshopped. Thus, gained huge scrutiny for setting unrealistic body standard of body features.
Gigi’s new avatar didn’t receive a warm welcome. As fans over twitter are still debating, whether the idea was to promote women empowerment or just an old style publicity stunt.

I can’t believe this is what passes for a super model these days. Yikes! Gigi Hadid’s ‘Armpit Hair’ Apparently Wasn’t Hair At All via @TMZ https://t.co/rPj9GeAE2E

Why is everyone so upset about Gigi Hadid having armpit hair? It’s a natural thing, men always have armpit hair everywhere, why can’t women have hair? pic.twitter.com/WZrJWnmCHy

After this debate, it seems people are not ready to accept Gigi as a feminist icon.
There’s attempting to use feminism to sell products, and then there’s Love Magazine’s advent calendar. Adding “stay strong” to the end doesn’t stop it being misogynistic male-gaze pornography pic.twitter.com/gNGcXOPmfj

. @THELOVEMAGAZINE
Why do women need to be reminded to #StayStrong especially in today’s climate by being half naked, posing pornographically & suggestively eating food?
Is deep throating a lollipop or spreading butt cheeks supposed to remind me of my strength? #LOVEADVENT2017 pic.twitter.com/mhaHZNnQ0b— asha leo (@ashaleo) December 3, 2017
The love advent calendar has become so vulgar it’s not sexy anymore.
