Recent studies have shown that activity trackers might not be a reliable source for weight loss as they claim to be. The study says that people should now switch to a better and a more accurate monitoring tool. All the participants were put on a low calorie diet, were given physical activities and received group counselling sessions on nutrition and fitness. Half got to wear an activity tracker were as the other half didn’t. They all were put on a 24 month trial.
The study concluded that, people who do not wear an activity tracker showed almost twice the weight loss than those who wore one. A person who wore the band showed an average loss of 7.7 pounds, whereas the others showed an average loss of 13 pounds.
