Get ready to sizzle with scrumptious food and great drinks at the newly opened Bronies. Bronies is located right below the Defence Colony flyover, where the old Nirulas was located. Part of me was excited to enter the place, which as Nirula’s holds memories.
Bronies means stressed people who love their evening unwinding and relaxing. And that is exactly how our evening played.
Service: The service can be a bit quicker, but then everyone has a slow day so no complaining there.
Ambience: The place is done up grunge chic but neatly. As compared to a plethora of other places this one has a symmetry to its grungy look, there are huge cars, helicopter models, scooter etc on the wall to make it look interesting. I loved the ambience. They also have a beautifully done up outdoor sitting which is ideal for a date.
Food: Bronies has decided to bring back the late eighties and early nineties favourites, sizzlers. So most of the food and drinks are sizzling hot with hot plates or hot stones. The drinks have liquid nitrogen play a big big role.
We got a burnt tomato and tortilla soup which was step above the traditional soup. The tortillas add a depth to the flavours of the soup. They also place a hot stone in the bowl to keep the soup hot.
The starters are okay with brinjal fries standing out. I loved their flavour with the special black bean sauce.
The salads were okay with Rocket Singh chicken tikka standing out with is grilled chicken adding flavour to it. There was a special sprouts salad which was lovely.
In the mains we ordered a chicken cacciatore which was too tangy for my liking. The wood fired chicken pot pie was a great meal in itself with a subtly flavoured chicken curry and potatoes served with a bed of herbed rice.
The dessert we picked was Baked Alaska, which is an ice cream covered in cream. It is one of the lost dessert and not many places make it. I’m glad to come across a place that still serves it.
