Welcome to the first ever 5 star property of East Delhi! Kempenski is classy and massive. Living in this area all my life I always wanted to give it a try but never got the occasion. Plus the thought of dining near home did not sound fun. On my birthday this year with no plans the restaurant here called Dilli 32 became the last minute choice.
Here’s how I found the whole experience
Ambience: Much like most hotels there is a posh feel to the place. But what makes it stand out is the warmth and comfort this place is designed to exclude. The sitting is very pretty with plush brocade chairs, marble top tables and a kitsch decor of jars filled with spices. The dim lights and candle light set the whole ambience too. The outer deck offers a beautiful view if the area and is worth sitting if the weather permits.
Food: The menu at Dilli 32 is not huge or extensive infact it is a 5 page menu which offers you Indian food at its best. You will find unique items like mutton nahari and basic ones like dal makhani too.
Price: Most vegetarian items cost about 650 INR whereas the non veggie ones are marked at 1000 INR.
Meal for two: We took 2 mains, one starter, a quarter wine and some rotis that put us at about 4000 INR. So it’s decently priced for 5 star standards.
Service: The service is warm and the waiters help you select the best possible food. Infact our server told us that we were over ordering breads and suggested we cut back! A first for me! Upon sitting they get you a huge brass bowl filled with roses to wash your hands in. A unique experience.
Must try: We ordered the panner tikka and it was probably the best panner I have had. The tikka was spiced perfectly but the star was their paneer and the portion was heavy enough for 4 of us on the table.
The best part is that they a allow you to take wine by the glass or by measurement. Like they have an option of quarter wine which is great for 2 glasses.
For mains we had the mutton nahari, Dilli 32 dal which was dal makhani and rotis. I ordered a sheermal. The soft sheermal was perfect with the spicy nahari. In fact the mutton was so soft it was the melt in the mouth variety. But the dal was the star of the meal. Yes it was heavy but delicately spiced and one of the best I have tasted.
