With the ever rising and dangerous levels of pollution and adulterated food in Delhi, slowly going back to purer forms of food, air is becoming important.
While air purifiers at home help, organic food has also caught my fancy many a times. So when one of the first organic stores opened shop in Select Citywalk, Delhi I made a quick visit. The I Say Organic stores have fresh produce, oils, pulses and spices. It is a one stop shop for your grocery needs as you grab a quick (and super healthy) bite.
Though organic dals are not a current favourite as they take longer to boil, a few trial of products from the I say Organic store has my outlook changed. Not only are they better (read stronger) the fragnances are completely different. Like the mustard oil doesn’t stink they way store brought oils do. The cinnamon has a strong wiff and you
really need a pinch to incorporate it to your favourite foods.
Their jaggery has me swooning and the baby with a crazy sweet tooth for it. Unlike the muddy jaggery or gur we are used to, this has a mellow flavour and it not too sweet.
Yes, the spices might be a tad little bit expensive than your usual ones but you need a teeny amount which in the long run makes it cheaper, than the spices you keep on adding due to lack of flavours. Plus the healthy factor cannot be ignored.
The food served there is quick to grab and eat. While I went on the first day which usually is a chaos day as most places are trying to find their feet, I Say Organic was better and more under control.
I grabbed a Chikoo waffle, now I hate Chikoo, the fragrance makes me gag. But when I tried their waffle which had a Chikoo jam, let’s say I can now respect that fruit! The waffles were whole wheat waffles and were crispy on the outside but they were thin and not so spongy as they had whole wheat flour.
I also tried their pita pocket which you can construct on your own by choosing the fillings and their signature dressings. I chose sesame beans, capsicum, cherry tomatoes and added their signature harissa and one with their mint sauce. The harissa was not wildly spicy it had a tinge of spice. The mint sauce was sweet, sour and light.
Next on my list is to try their fresh cold pressed juices, pick cardamom and curry powder.
Rating 5/5 for the healthier and still yummy food options.
