Last week we planned a sudden family vacation to Shimla and without much delay all the bookings were made. When travelling with family including your parents or in-laws it’s very important to plan everything beforehand to avoid any problems later.
My family members prefer Indian food but are not hesitant in trying other cuisines too. After having two Indian meals en-route Shimla, I wanted to have something else. While looking for a good restaurant on mall road, I came across an Italian joint named La Pino’z Pizza. I convinced my family members to have dinner at this place. We had a climb a few stairs to reach this restaurant but we all enjoyed our meal.
Check out the review of the place to know more about it La Pino’z Pizza which was earlier known as Pinocchio Pizza:
Food: As the name suggests that restaurant offers Italian cuisine. Salads, garlic bread, pizzas, pastas and tacos (similar to Dominos ones in looks but with different fillings) are all on the menu. You can choose from personal, medium, large, extra-large and the giant size pizza (the giant size serves 8). Besides this you can also make your own giant size pizza slice.
I ordered for a Caesar salad but it wasn’t available because of the absence of lettuce which comes from their other branch in Chandigarh. Besides Caesar some other salads on the menu are Nachos salad (Mexican salsa and cheese sauce in nachos with both veg and non-veg toppings), Insatala Salad (lemon-honey-black pepper dressing in lettuce and other toppings and tropical salad but availability can be an issue at times because of the raw material).
The pizza range is also wide with some spicy options too on offer. For vegetarians Hot Passion, Veg Tamer, La Pino’z Paneer and Mexican Salsa are few good bets while the non-vegetarians can opt from Chicken Exotica, Spanish sizzle, California pizza and Texas BBq’ed. Mixed grill , Fire-e-chicken and Meat blast are also amazing.
The garlic bread is yummy and the portion size is also good (three slices). Toppings garlic bread is also on the menu. The Chicken Tikka and Chicken Salami taco is delectable and very filling.
The drink menu is different and offers a variety of beverages. You can go for ginger ale, flavoured iced tea and other drinks. The hot coffees are served in huge and lovely coffee mugs unlike other coffee shops; I personally liked the hazelnut flavoured hot coffee and Irish coffee.
Those with a sweet tooth can enjoy their chocolate pizza too.
Price: The personal pizza range starts from INR 85 and goes upto INR 210 but few fixed combination (pack of four pizzas ) are also available which are very reasonable.
Ambience: The décor is minimalist with tables, chairs, paintings and hanging lamp shades. It can accommodate only 25 to 30 people at a time. It gets really noisy when its completely occupied and when it’s not you can enjoy the some Bollywood and punjabi beats playing in the background. If you like their food, just write your message on the tissue paper and paste it on
the bulletin board. From the window seat you can also see the mall road.
Meal for Two: A meal for two would cost you INR 500 or more depending on your choice of pizza.
Rating: I would give it 4.25/5 for some yummy pizzas.
Would I visit again: It has many branches so I would try to go if I am in (or around) the area. But the Shimla one, I would definitely go on during my next trip.
