Welcome to old world British Raj meets new world glamour! Lutyen house is an upmarket restaurant with splendid location and a beautiful restaurant. It’s the kind of place you would like to go for a quiet drink or a first date. It makes you feel glamorous, sophisticated and still comfortable enough to be yourself.
I have been to this place twice now more so for its lip smacking food and yummy cocktails.
Meal for two: Around 3000
Ambience: The eatery offers a great ambience with its beautiful old world charm and décor. They have pictures and architectural plans of Connaught Place and Janpath. They have hand-picked and
curated beautiful old world items from a heavy foot lamp to telephones to showcase worthy boats.
The seating is also British Raj inspired with opulent leather sofas and soild wood dominating the comfortable yet classy seating set up.
The location of the restaurant also charms you. It’s located on Janpath (opposite Le Meridian) on the first floor of the Jaguar showroom. And it offers you a great view of the road.
Service: The staff is very polite, quick and courteous. They help you out while ordering so that you can pick what you like. The USP is their
cocktails, a cigar bar and their comfort British food which the staff knows well.
Drinks: Ohh the scrumptious cocktails! They are better and different than whatever we have had in Delhi. Their Apple cigar cocktail is made with smoked wood and cigar right in front of you. It’s a masterpiece that you must watch when it’s made.
They also stock beers like Bira which are not available in Delhi. The cigar bar holds many types of cigars and is worth a try for a cigar aficionado. PS they also do amazing shakes if you love your oreo shake more than a beer.
Food: The food is unapologetically comfot food but the best part is that it is not heavy on the tummy. Its beautifully made without being greasy. The mushroom is something I want to go back for.
The beetroot risotto is probably the best risotto I have had ever! It’s a beautiful creation served with sour cream and asparagus. The beetroot is not over whelming and it is perfectly creamy without being heavy and greasy.
The ham and rocket pizza is a perfect thin base wood fired pizza with a decent amount of ham shavings per slice and some rocket leaves for palate cleansing.
The chicken pie is made with delicately spiced grilled chicken served with a potato mash on top and slices of grapes to add a zing to the palate.
For desserts they do a chocolate box which has some 5 yummy chocolate based desserts . Chocolate nirvana!
Must Try: Most of their menu!
Rating: 5/5
Would I visit again? Yes, I would definitely go again.
