The relaunched Palmyra for winter brunches

While we visited the newly relaunched Palmyra, all-day dining multi-cuisine restaurant at The Bristol, it brought back old memories. The Bristol was a classy hotel back in the Y2K and it slowly lost it’s vibe. But now they are renovating and phases of the hotel have an all new swankier look.

The menu at Palmyra is a mix of Indian, Continental, Thai and Mexican cuisine to cater to different palates. It is basically an all day dine-in for the hotel’s guests

The Bristol recently transferred its managerial operations and activities to a new team of industry professionals, with Executive Chef Anil Dahiya, at the helm. The new menu is a great fusion of international cuisines with Indian tastes that is equally appealing to the Indian and Continental palate. Major food changes are soon to follow.

Ambience: Palmyra is located on the top floor of The Bristol, Gurugram and we love the aesthetics of the place especially the terrace area, Alfresco, perfect for those warm winter brunches. The place has very good natural lighting and has a soothing, warm ambience. It has an open kitchen and you can have an interaction with the Chef regarding your food preferences. They also boast of a small organic garden to incorporate fresh flavors to food.

Service: The staff is welcoming, knowledgeable and polite.

Drinks:  We tried their Pineapple based mocktail and absolutely loved it. It has a very unique and refreshing taste.

Food: The luncheon commenced with a wide range of appetizers and concluded with a sumptuous buffet-spread. The buffet incorporated cuisines from regions across the world. I absolutely loved the amuse bouche, it was unique, a sandalwood smoked water melon. In starters we loved the pizzas and burgers, Paneer Khurchan Roll, Jalapeno Cheese Potato Skin, and Teriyaki Salmon.

There is a wide range of  Cheeses, Salads, freshly baked breads and baguettes to choose from. In the main course Sole fish in Thai red curry, Chicken Manglorian roast masala, and Mushroom risotto with ginger are flavorful and a must try.

The desserts were perfect and I cannot get over the beautiful flavors of the rich warm chocolate & walnut pudding. The Besan aur Cheese ki Barfi was a great fusion dessert. There was also an array of  miniatures cake and pastries, perfect for dessert loving people!

Rating: 3.75/5 as I felt for a buffet the choices were a bit limited. Also there was nothing extraordinary which would take me back to this place.

Where: Palmyra, The Bristol, Gurugram.

Cost of buffet: Rs 999 plus GST for lunch and Rs 1199 plus GST for dinner.
