For the best of Bihar food ever!
We went for a celebration when recently my friend decided to give her birthday treat at PotBelly Chankapuri. I had a little idea about the place as one another friend told me it serves Bihari Cuisine. Litti Chokha is the only thing i know about Bihari cuisine so I was little skeptical about this restaurant . But after I read some good reviews, I was looking forward to try a new cuisine. We had a great time with some good food and obviously a great company. Read on to know more about this place
Ambiance: Located inside Bihar Niwas, the restaurant has both open air as well as closed seating. The interiors are quite interesting with hanging lamps and some indoor plants and colourful wooden chairs. There is an open ground in front of the restaurant where you can see the Littis getting baked and its a pleasant sight I must say.
Food: Sandwiches and maggi too on the menu but that day they were not available so we opted for some Bihari starters. The Pakora Basket (assorted pakoras including sabudana) , Saboodana basket , Phataka french fries (which is similar to desi chilli potato ), the non vegetarian phataka fries has keema too, Poori basket( order if you have kids along) were worth a try. The Paneer and Chicken roll are equally tantalizing and goes
well with Sattu Cooler, Fresh Lemondae , Mirchi Masala Lemonade and flavoured Ice tea.
In the main course Litti Chokha is a must try. The meat lovers can go for chicken and mutton Litti which is little spicy (the gravy will be of mutton or chicken and not the littis). The Dal Piiti, Tehri, Champaran Style Mutton, Khada Masala Mutton, Pudina chicken Pulao, Dehati Fish & Chips and Mutton chap are few good bets.
For desserts there is no menu as they have a different dessert every day.
Meal for two: It would cost you within INR 2000
Ratings: 4/5 as it was my introduction with Bihari Cuisine and the food didn’t disappoint me so I would recommend you all to visit here at least once.
