Vishu is the Hindu New Year festival celebrated in Kerala and nearby Tulunadu region of Coastal Karnatka. It falls on April 14 every year. On this day a special vegetarian meal called, Sadhya is prepared which is a mix of salty, sweet, sour and bitter items. It is served on a banana leaf and the food is eaten by hands without using any cutlery. To experience and relish this one of a kind food spread, hop over to Zambar at Ambience Mall, Gurugram with your family and friends on 14th April.
Ambience: Zambar is located on the top floor of Ambience Mall, Gurugram and we absolutely love the aesthetics of the place especially the house boat look given to the sitting area. The lighting and wooden work lends a very earthy and elegant look to the place. It is a fine dining place and is great for spending a relaxing time with your family and friends.
Service: The staff is welcoming, warm and polite.
Drinks: They have an extensive bar menu but you must try their mocktails. They have given a modern twist to the traditional drinks and results are just amazing. I fell in love with their Virgin Coconut Mojito.
Food: On 14th April, they are serving the traditional Vishu Sadhya. It is just a blast of colors on a plate. The food on banana leaf just looks tempting and divine. The menu consists of Sarkara Varrati, Banana Upperi, Unniappam, Achar, Thoran, Pachadi, Olan, Avial, Kootu Curry, Black Chana and Banana, Theeyal, Kaalan, Parippu Curry, Papadum, Sambhar, Morru Curry, Sambaram, Inji Curry, Rasam, Pal Payasam, Adda Payasam with Banana, Brown Rice and Ghee. It is just explosion of textures and flavours in your mouth. There wasn’t even a single item in the thali that we did not love. Ask the staff or chef to help you figure out the correct way to eat the food because traditionally every food has a sequence and that helps create the right palate for enjoying the food. Since so much of effort goes into making the food, they expect you not to waste the food. The food is meant to be eaten with hands and no cutlery so just dig in.
