There are times when you don’t feel like cooking or are too busy to cook and for those days these ready to eat meals come handy. I have even seen my vegetarian friends carrying these meals during foreign trips due lack of availability of filling vegetarian meal. Recently I bought a packet of Gifts ready to eat Dal Makhani for the days when I am too lazy to cook. Why Dal Makhani? Since its my favourite lentil delicacy as its rich in taste and flavour.
Price: It is priced at INR 65 for 300 gram pack.
Claims: They claim that their products are hot filled in laminated multi-layered aluminum foil pouches which are able to withstand thermal processing temperature in excess of 100°C at the specified pressure required for sterilization. The entire process is monitored by computerized system. Since it uses modern technology for this so it preservative free.
When can be used: They are useful when the restaurants refuses to deliver or you are too lazy to cook. It can also be a saviour during camping and travel when your taste buds crave for some Indian meal.
How to cook: Immense the unopened pouch in boiling water for 3-5 minutes. Remove , cut , open stir and serve. You ca also empty the content in a microwave bowl. Cover and microwave for two minutes, stir and serve.
Time taken: Maximum 5 minutes
Pros: I liked this product because
It’s reasonably priced and the portion size is enough for two.
It’s hygienically packed and has a shelf life of twelve months.
It has a little smoky flavour which personally reminded me of tandoori chicken but all my other family members liked the flavour.
Its not very creamy and fattening as compared to ones available at restaurants.
It doesn’t contain any preservatives and msg.
Cons: I didn’t find much cons accept a few
It’s quite thick so few may not like it.
The flavour of garlic is little overpowering.
It’s not available in a bigger pack.
Rating: It would give it 3.75/5 and would like to try other items too.They have a complete range of items which includes desserts too.
