Check out the list of foods that you should not refrigerate:
A refrigerator is a place where we can keep many things from leftover pizzas to ice cream to literally everything. We all need it in our homes and store everything to preserve things for a longer period of time. But a few foods are not refrigeration friendly. Some ingredients simply aren’t made for colder temperatures. Here is the list of foods that you should not refrigerate
- Bananas
Bananas need to be stored at room temperature as the warm temperatures help the fruit finish ripening and the light and air slow down decay.
- Tomatoes
The cold temperatures of the fridge can damage the texture of this food item.
- Garlic
Garlic deteriorates quickly when stored in the refrigerator due to the added moisture. So store it outside only.
- Honey
Avoid storing honey in the refrigerator as it solidifies there.
- Potatoes
Cold temperatures turn their starch into sugar, which can make it discolored and tasteless. That is why they are also stored outside the fridge.
- Melon
Uncut melon can be kept on the shelf, it doesn’t affect the freshness of the fruit. Cut melons should be covered and refrigerated.
- Peanut butter
Processed peanut butter can become hard and stodgy in the fridge. So avoid storing it inside the fridge.
- Citrus fruits
Citrus fruits remain juicier and flavourful when stored at room temperature. Store lemons, limes, grapefruit, and oranges in a cool and dry place.
- Fresh soft herbs
Basil, rosemary, thyme, and other herbs get dried out in the fridge. Instead, you should cut and keep them in a glass with fresh water.
- Chocolate
The fridge is not the right place to keep your box of chocolates. The temperature and moisture of the fridge can spoil the taste, color, and texture.
