We all travel by planes and the longer the flight, the worse skin you will have upon landing. The air in a plane is usually refreshed and with no natural source which leaves the skin dehydrated and dry. Most women complain of itchy dry skin and some get pimples too! Here is how to keep you skin intact during a long flight:
Pre departure: Plane air sucks the moisture out of your skin (literally). But using heavy creams is not the solution as it will block pores and lead to pimples.
· Use your daily day cream just insure it is well absorbed.
· Heavy makeup should also be avoided, say not to cakey foundation. If you don’t want to go without any makeup, pick a light BB cream and apply some cheek and lip tint.
· Stay away from Kohl because it can smudge and make you look disastrous upon landing.
In flight: This is when you need to take extra care of your skin.
· Carry a rosewater spray or my personal favourite Forest Essentials Panchpushp and keep on refreshing your face and skin every two hours. If you feel awkward spraying on face, spray on your hands and pat on your face.
· Apply a nourishing lip balm to prevent chapped lips.
· Also apply a good hand cream.
· Staying hydrated is the key to soft supple skin. For every hour in air have two glasses of water. Yes you might have to frequent the rest room but your skin will thank you for it.
· Over-applying products can be uncomfortably bad idea. So clean your face with aloe vera wipes.
· Lightly dab some eye cream as eye skin suffers maximum damage upon dehydration.
Pre landing: An hour before you land, quickly follow these tips to great skin:
· Many flights hand out mini hot towels to passengers just before landing. Use yours to do a mini facial by placing it on your face for two minutes and letting your breath create humidity. Clean with a tissue and reapply moisturiser.
· Alternatively you can carry a face mask the cloth based ones. Like the ones from Face Shop which do not need to be washed.
· Before landing re-apply BB cream, cheek stain, lip tint and you can use your kohl now!
Post landing: Now as the temperature and humidity changes your skin will react.
· If you land at daytime or going towards the tropics use sunscreen.
· It is a good idea to have some coconut water or lemonade to replenish nutrients in your body. Stay away from coffee, tea and soft drinks as they contain caffeine which can dehydrate the skin.
Your skin will glow and thank you. Plus you won’t need a facial as soon as you land!
PS this all may seem too much but once you have the right products and get the hang of it, it’s super quick and easy!
