Taking care of your skin through each season is as important as changing your wardrobe according to the weather. With summers come the scorching days and the warm nights. After the winters and the mild spring, the dry hot winds leave your skin a combination of sweat, tan, clogged pores due to oil secretion or completely dry and chapped depending on your skin type.
Skin Care Regime for summers:
Sunscreens everyday: To save your skin from the UV rays of the sun it is essential to wear a sunscreen irrespective of the climate of the day. Cloudy or sunny, hot or cold, applying a sunscreen before stepping out of the house should be your daily mantra. You can either use a daily moisturiser with a sunscreen in it, or you could layer a sunscreen on top of your regular moisturiser if you know you’re going to be outside for a long period of time. You can either opt for a gel based or a cream based moisturiser depending on your skin type. Further, if you are out in the sun for quite a long time, then you can use a sunlite spray with SPF 30PA++ which can be used on top of your make up as well. You just need to spray it on your face from a distance and let the sunscreen protect you from getting tanned.
Hydrate and moisturise your skin: Hydration is the talk of the day during this season. With the change in weather, increase in the intake of water. Drink 8-10 glasses of water in a day. It helps in keeping the skin moisturised, healthy and smooth. Apart from this use a face pack that will help in retaining the much needed moisture in your skin. You can either use a reviving oxy pack or a hydrating seaweed pack depending on your skin type. Apply the pack, leave it on for 15 – 20 minutes and then rinse it off. These packs can also be kept overnight or can be used as a moisturiser if used in a very little quantity during the night.
Exfoliate: Exfoliation forms an important part of your skin care regime during this season. After the winters, you tend to be left with dry and flaky skin. In order to rejuvenate your skin and for removing the dead cells, exfoliation is very essential. Use peppermint exfol gel, apply it on your skin, scrub with dry finger tips for 2 – 3 minutes and then leave it on for 10 minutes and then rinse it off.
CTOM: Whatever skin type you have, cleansing, toning, oiling and moisturising should form an essential part of your skincare regime and should be performed twice daily. This relieves your skin from dirt, dead cells, clogged pores and helps keep it hydrated. Depending on your skin type you can either opt for a CTOM – Dry Skin Essentials Kit, Oily Skin Essentials Kit or/and Combination Skin Essentials Kit.
Home-made cleansing process: Mash a banana and beat it in 2-3 tablespoons of yoghurt. Brush it on the face and leave it on for 20 minutes till it dries. Then rinse it off. Use this once a week.
Hair Care Regime:
Clean Scalp: In order to remove the accumulated dirt and dead cells from your scalp it is essential to clean your scalp thoroughly. Make it a point of rinsing your hair at least twice a week. If you have a dry scalp you can clean your hair with a cream based shampoo like aloe vera cream shampoo and if you have an oily scalp then you can wash your hair with a triphala shampoo.
Conditioning: After the rough and dry winters it is essential to keep your hair moisturised. After taking a shower do not forget to use a conditioner. You can use a protein based conditioner on your hair strands. Do not apply it on your scalp. Leave it on for 3 – 4 minutes and then wash off.
Drink lots of water it will keep both your skin and hair healthy.
