Ever thought of this, your skin might be aging quicker due to wrong application of that expensive skin cream? Well it is an important thing to consider but many women ignore that there might be a correct way. I mean most of us just slap on or dump some cream on our face and expect it to work its magic. However, every time we say it is not working, consider that you might be applying it improperly.
Here’s how to apply face cream properly to make the product work and get your money’s worth:
Wash, wash wash: Applying night cream, pimple cream or your day cream, the first step should always be cleaning your hands to get rid of bacteria and then washing your face. This helps your face get rid of make-up residue, lotion, sunscreen and pollution. A clean face also allows the face cream to penetrate deeper into your pores and work its magic.
Damp skin helps: Never wait for your skin to dry before applying face cream. Lotions and creams work better by locking in moisture if applied on slightly damp skin. So instead of waiting for your skin to dry and pores to close, wash and pat your skin dry and apply your favorite face cream. In fact I keep my day cream n the washroom and use it prior to shower for a better result.
Use a small amount: Ever noticed that labels instruct you to use a pea-sized amount and often we apply a larger portion thinking it will work quicker or better. In this case more isn’t better in fact too much can make it difficult for your skin to absorb the cream and it can make your face feel slimy. This can also lead to pimples and zits.
Spread it properly: Before applying the pea sized amount of cream on your face spread it on the tips of your fingers. This way the cream melts a bit making it easier to apply and gets rubbed in deeper.
Apply gently: Applying a cream with a harsh or hard hand will make your face react to the cream, a soft massage on the other hand helps absorb the cream into your face. The skin on your face is very thin and delicate so being too rough can cause wrinkles!
Pick the right cream: The market is flooded with all sorts of creams, pick the right one. Consider your budget and skin type when you choose a face cream. Also see if you can consult a dermatologist for selecting the right skincare products for your face.
Keep a routine: Usually in mornings, I clean my face with a face wash and apply a pea sized amount. At night I prefer a longer routine, first I use a makeup cleanser, then a face wash, followed by a toner and night cream. Thrice a week I use a face scrub and face pack to revitalize the skin.
