Common makeup myths and mistakes Indian women commit:
Foundations: Foundations are not meant only for parties and functions. You can use it daily as a base to keep your skin even and glowing. Buy a lightweight one or a tinted moisturizer.
Wearing makeup daily: Wearing makeup can never spoil your skin or make you age. Good foundations nowadays protect your skin from pollution and UV rays. Some of them also contain anti-aging elements.
Expert application: You don’t have to be an expert to apply makeup. Makeup on a daily basis is very easy to apply and right products only enhance your features.
Makeup does expire: Makeup products have an expiry date. It can last long, but you just need to keep a check on the smell and color change in the product.
Smokey eyes: Smokey eyes are not only meant for models, partys or glitzy events. If done well they can accentuate any type of eyes and do wonders to your looks.
Red lipstick: Red lipsticks are not for fair women only .There are different shades of reds for every skin tone and red enhances all skin colours and can add old world glamour.
Lighter base: Many Indian women love to make their skin look lighter and end up using a foundation shades lighter than their skin tone. Foundation should be very close to the skin tone. Blending holds the key to neatness. Also pay extra attention to area around the face like the neck, chest, ears and back of the neck.
Unmade eyebrows and eyelashes: This can make the best make up look flat, pale and unfinished. Women often forget to darken and shape their eyebrows with colour. Use a good mascara to enhance your eyes.
Indian skintone: It is important to use the right foundation with yellow undertones. As all Asians especially Indians have yellow tones in their skin.
Kohl is important: The use of kohl and mascara is important for Indian women as we have black or brown eyes, and kajal enhances the colour of the eyes.
Think earthy: Earthy tones like gold, earthy browns, reds, bronze of eye shadows and lipsticks suit Indian tones. Shades like blue and purples can look over the top and cheap.
For a slimmer face: To make the face look slimmer use contouring. Put some dark foundation or dark compact on the problem areas like under the cheekbones, along the jaw line and along the bridge of the nose. Use it on the corners of your forehead to give an illusion of an oval face.
