Just like our skin, nail too need some TLC. Well kept and tidy nails look beautiful but often women ignore them and end up with ugly, misshapen nails. Nail care is not a difficult task and it takes a few minutes. Read on to know more on keeping you nails healthy and shinning.
Keep them short: If you have weak and brittle nails try to keep them short. As shorter your nails, the stronger they tend to be. Proper trimmed nails look neat and tidy over witchy pointed ones!
Use gentle removers: Always pick a good quality nail paint remover to protect your nails from harmful chemicals. It is advisable to use Vitamin E enriched and acetone free removers as they are safe. But try not to use them more than once a week.
Protect your nails: To avoid discoloration always wear a coat of base colour on your nails and to remove stains mix one tablespoon of lemon juice in a cup of water and soak your nails in this liquid for a few minutes.
Strengthen your nails: Olive oil is the best solution for weak nails. Massage your nails thoroughly with it for at least 10 mins then wash it off with water. Do this daily for three to four times a day. You can even pick up some nail strengtheners available in the market.
Use gloves: If your nails are weak try to cover them with gloves while doing heavy household work. Avoid picking difficult things with your nails. Never use your nails as a screwdriver.
Moisturize: Always keep your hands nourished. Massage your nails with Vaseline to get rid of the dryness. Besides Vaseline you can also use hand creams or lotions at night to keep your hands and nails healthy.
Eat well: Besides creams and lotions, a good diet can do wonders for your nails. Include nuts, milk, vegetable and eggs in your diet and see the difference.
Regular manicures/ pedicures: A regular visit to a salon is a must for healthy nails. Go for regular manicure and pedicure to get rid of cuticles, dead skin and ridges in the nails to provide a lasting shine.
