Our skin usually gets the worse with time, climate, unhealthy eating do take their toll. But often our skin care or the lack of it is the number one culprit. So on a busy Monday evening when I had the chance to meet Dr Monica Chahar who has her skin care clinic at M Block GK 1, I braved the traffic to gain some insight about my sensitive skin.
The first thing the doctor asked me when I said, I have sensitive skin shocked me. Her question was if I had ever applied OTC skin creams, that I believe we all have in college, my affirmative made her frown. She explained how I had damaged the top layer of my skin with continuous use of Betnovate N. My skin has thinned leading to rosacea which shall lessen but never decrease. Sadly.
She was kind enough to show me the damage and it is a scary picture. The doctor suggested me a photo facial which uses laser to make the blood vessels and my acne pigmentation decrease over a few sittings.
What is a laser photo facial:
Photo facial uses light-based technology for skin treatment. Photo facials are mostly used for treating brown spots, broken capillaries, and boosting collagen. The Laser Photo Facial is an optimal treatment to indulge in during the winters. Laser Photo Facial is suitable for all skin types as it gives a nice, smooth texture and restores the suppleness of the skin
A laser photo facial takes only 15-20 minutes and the results are instant. The damage will take time to rectify.
My experience with the laser photo facial:
The skin care clinic is aesthetically done up and the room is clinical. However, the warm way the doctor explained every thing eased me. My eyes were then covered with an eye mask and she informed me about the sensations I was about to feel and a flash of red light I would see every time the laser zapped my skin clear.
First some ice was rubbed on the treatment area and then a soothing gel was applied. The laser takes all of 5-7 minutes to be done. In fact I for scared when I could smell skin burning which she explained was the way laser in skin smells and my skin is in safe hands.
Post the laser an organic face mask is applied to tighten the skin. After 10 minutes I walked out more radiant than any run-of-the-mill facial can ever give me and this shall also decrease the self inflicted damage.
A good dermatologist would always make you comfortable and I can happily recommend NAME to family, friends.
