An evening of whiskey, books and elite environment
It is not daily that women are celebrated, there are clearly de-marked days like Mother’s Day and Women’s Day to celebrate us. But recently Glenfiddich invited us for a special evening dedicated to inspiring women and their journey’s.
It is not daily that we get to understand alcohol. Yes, it is abundantly available and weekends are about getting high. But do you really know your whiskey? Well last week we headed to ATM at Sunder Nagar to know a lot more about alcohol and wow were we amazed! Karina Agarwal made us understand how to taste, smell and understand whiskey. As we tried the three amazing Glenfiddich whiskeys the 10 year old, the 14 year old and the 18 year old.
We understood how whiskey is made and why the taste master is important while an alcohol is blended. We tasted the select single malts and understood the difference in the three blends. Water and correct dilution also plays a beautiful role in emitting flavours to the whiskey.
Author Aparna Jain read from her book “Own It” which talked about how women, even in high profile jobs, suffer gender inequality. This made me realize that we might be doing well professionally but at home, gender inequality is still prevalent. Women are still expected to give their salaries to their partners, cook even when tired, domesticate even if they earn lakhs in the corporate environment.
The night ended with us being more empowered with knowledge.
