Come September and we are excited to become voyeurs to the biggest Indian reality TV show Bigg Boss. But this year the wait seems unjustified and we are left with the feeling of wanting more. Bigg Boss 8 launched (much like it previous counterparts) with much aplomb.
Salman Khan was still the bad boy and as the celebs were unveiled we were saddened. But everyone assumed things would pick up however, a week since its launch and we just barely enjoy Bigg Boss 8. Here are 5 things that went wrong with Bigg Boss season 8:
Lack of a Bigg Boss House: Used to sprawling pretty houses, huge pools, this season the rusted airplane seems like an anti-climax of sorts. It looks uncomfortably claustrophobic and the plane looks like a joke. The corner dabha like kitchen, those dried creepers sure look depressing and make me want to turn off the telly. Imagine being in a airplane like that, scary right?
The no celeb celebs: This year probably has the worse line up of celebrities in Bigg Boss history ever in fact most of them are self proclaimed celebs with no real exposure. From nobodies like Sonali Raut to the customary gay, videshi import and wannabe TV starlets are all there much like previous seasons. In fact the one film wonders Upen Patel, a now chubby Minnisha Lamba, Arya Babber are hardly seen talking.
Salman’s repetitive behavior: Every year those weird end lines by Salman can get a bit boring, so is going to be his let me control reality TV act. His jokes (yawn!), angry on contestants for forming groups, etc is all going to be there. Maybe we really need to give SRK a chance.
The secret society: What is the point of being in Bigg Boss house and be controlled by 3 weirdoes who call themselves the secret society? We mean, we can call those 3 Bigg Boss himself. The give vague punishments (when told by Bigg Boss). There was no need for a middle man as everything could have been relayed by BB himself.
The need for alag: The quirky twists that started in season 6 all thanks to Salman Khan now seem vague and not required. There was no need to have similar contestants to last season of Bigg Boss, nor the wrecked plane or the sad secret society. Sometimes the normal Bigg Boss seems more luxurious and worth a watch over this season.
That said, let me look for my TV remote and switch on to see the next episode of Bigg Boss, after all old habits die hard.
