Bollywood’s Perfectionist Aamir Khan’s latest film PK is all set to break records. First it claimed the title of Bollywood’s all-time highest grosser, and now it is inching towards becoming the first Bollywood film to make Rs 300 crore.
Aamir started the Rs 100 crore club with his 2008 film Ghajini and then again he started the Rs 200 crore club trend with Rajkumar Hirani’s 3 Idiots in 2009. And now, PK is all set to start Rs 300 club phenomenon at the box office.
PK released on December 19, has collected Rs 293.84 crore in 16 days (as of January 3) of its release. Last week, PK became the highest grossing film of all time in the domestic market by minting Rs 263 crore in just 13 days, displacing Dhoom: 3 in the box office charts.
However PK has also met with resistance from right-wing Hindu organisations but none of that deterred its growth story. On the other hand, some political leaders like BJP senior leader LK Advani hailed the movie as a “wonderful and courageous film”. States like Bihar and Uttar Pradesh have also given tax-free status to PK.
