Salman Khan is being criticsed on being appointed as goodwill ambassador of Rio Olympics. According to a section of critics a goodwill ambassador should be a sportsman and not a film star.
Sports persons of country including sprinter flying Sikh Milkha Singh said that it is demoralizing and unfair to promote a film star instead of a sportsman to represent Olympics. While the Indian Olympic Association said that Salman Khan is the biggest Bollywood star in the country that has a huge mass following; the objective of the board is to attract this huge crowd towards sports to promote the same.
Between all this messes former Miss World and Salman Khan’s ex Aishwarya Rai Bachchan casted her vote in support of Salman Khan. She said that anyone who is doing good to represent the country and working or standing or speaking up for the betterment of whatever profession we have in our country be it sports or art needs to be recognized. Bollywood seconded Aishwarya’s words including Sooraj Barjatya, Kirron Kher and Salman Khan’s father too.
Aishwarya has worked with Salman in some of the big hits like Hum dil de chuke Sanam and Dhai Akshar Prem ke. The two were in a romantic relationship but after a series of contradictions between the two, Aishwarya chose to marry Abhishek Bachchan in 2007.
