The trailer of Akshay Kumar’s Bell Bottom was out yesterday and people loved it. The movie is based on the hijackings of 1984. Akshay can be seen playing a secret agent, codenamed Bell Bottom, who is leading a covert operation to rescue a hijacked plane. The film also stars Huma Qureshi (as a foreign officer), Adil Hussain (as an Indian government officer), Vaani Kapoor (as Kumar’s wife), and a completely unrecognizable Lara Dutta (as the PM).

At the trailer launch event, Lara Dutta revealed that she plays Indira Gandhi in the movie, and trust me she looks unrecognizable. Asking Lara Dutt about playing the former PM Indira Gandhi she said: Okay, so you did see me in the trailer. I’m playing Mrs. Indira Gandhi in the film. That’s me. All it took was a call and they said that Lara this film is being made and we are casting for Indira Gandhi’s role. That is all it took before I even heard the script. But yes, of course, there is a great responsibility when you’re portraying somebody who is an iconic figure like her.”
“As you all know that the film deals with a hijack situation that happened during her tenure. Given the dramatic events that were unfolding, she was somebody who was extremely centered and not really prone to any dramatics. So it was important to portray her in that form. I had a great time. There was a lot of homework and research that went behind it. But it was an opportunity of a lifetime that I’m thankful for,” she added.
Not only for the trailer but Akshay Kumar was in headlines for something else as well. After the launch of the trailer, Akshay’s gesture for co-star Vaani Kapoor has also grabbed attention. Khiladi Kumar met Vaani’s father and created a happy moment for him. Indeed, the happiness and excitement to meet his favorite actor were evident on his face.
