Akshay Kumar’s new ad is slammed for mocking Marathas:
Many people on social media are asking to boycott Nirma washing powder, alleging that the brand’s latest ad featuring actor Akshay Kumar defames Maratha warriors. The hashtag #BoycottNirma has been trending on Twitter with more than 22,000 tweets since Tuesday.
In the advertisement, Akshay Kumar plays the role of a Maratha king whose army returns from the battle and then sets about washing their clothes. Akshay says in the ad: “The king’s army knows how to thrash enemies as well as wash their clothes,”
Few people did not like the advertisement and said that it mocks Maratha warriors. As per media, a police complaint was filed against Akshay Kumar at Worli police station in Mumbai for allegedly defaming Chhatrapati Shivaji Maharaj in the advertisement.
“They have made use of our brave Maratha Soldiers to sell their product,” wrote one Twitter user.

One of the dialog of Akshay Kumar in #NirmaAd. is , “Party bhi hogi aur dhulai bhi“. Nirma Ltd & Mr. Kumar, have you ever heard about any parties by Warriors ? Seems that your history is so poor. #BoycottNirma pic.twitter.com/fAKwFmfYxE
