We all love watching daily soaps some or the other one no matter how much we deny. When you live with your in-laws you are bound to watch these daily soaps as they enjoy watching such dramas. Few shows are good to watch but some can really get over your nerves for the nonsense they show. Team AAW lists few of such ridiculous things that only happens on Indian Television
Lookalikes: Just after the main protagonist dies , his or her lookalike comes in action which is totally opposite of him. The role of lookalike is to take revenge or fall in love with widow of the lead character. The recent example of this is Saath Nibhana Sathiya where the Ahem’s lookalike Jaggi, a fun-loving Punjabi guy full of attitude is all set to help Gopi.
Sleep in makeup: We all know that sleeping with makeup can damage the skin but the lead actress of our telly industry are blessed with a problem free skin and they can sleep happily with make on. “Come on, come on, turn the radio , everyday I will put my make up on”.
Change in financial status: Change of financial status is mandatory. The rich will turn poor and poor with turn rich. Once the lead is a servant in the house of the family but as soon as the family faces financial troubles the servant is back as big businessmen who helps them come out the crisis by buying their house and paying off all their loans. For example , the rich businessmen Ram Kapoor of Bade Ache Lagte Hai turned poor and when everyone refused to give him a job he started his own business all over again. I didn’t know starting business was such an easy task.
Kids are parents lookalike: Kids resemble their parents but in daily soaps they are the exact copy of one of the parents. The recent is Satya the son of Siddhart and Roshini in Jamai Raja. Forget the parents , the sisters from different mothers can also lookalike like Ruhi and Pihu of Ye Hai Mohabbatein.
Planning and plotting: This is most common and favourite angle of makers. planning and plotting to get house keys, to break relationships and what not. Ewww.
Infertility isn’t an issue: Television characters never face any trouble with fertility because just one night of plotted sex is all it takes to get them preggers.
Revenge Mode: All of a sudden a positive character will turn negative to take revenge to settle an old and illogical enmity .
Exchange of reports: I fail to understand how do they manage to change the reports and blood samples so easily.
Superwoman: The leading lady of the show is a superwomen and has the capability to solve every problem in the world without the help of others. They will never share the problem with their partners and will go to any extend including divorcing the partner to solve the matter. Great woman!
Supernatural powers: The best example of this is Sasural Simar Ka. From turning into makhi to naagin to witch anything and everything can happen on daily soaps.
Long life: Grandmothers and grandfathers live for more than 200 years. Leaps help in the TRP race but the makers forget the age of the senior citizens in the show and even after 20 years they look the same.
Re-entry: The character gets murdered or dies and is back with a changed name and face. In most the shows the girl comes back as a daughter of a rich businessmen to take the revenge. How come only why only rich businessmen adopt them. Recent example of this Devika from Life Ok’s Kalash who is back as a daughter of a rich socialite to take her revenge.
Same hospital and temple: There’s only 1 temple in the world where everyone meets and only one hospital’ City Hospital’. I really want to see where is this city hospital.
