Mahadev Betting App Scam: Kapil Sharma, Huma Qureshi & Hina Khan Follow Ranbir Kapoor To Get Summoned By ED:
Recently, Bollywood actor Ranbir Kapoor has been summoned by the Enforcement Directorate (ED) in relation to a case pertaining to the Mahadev betting app money laundering case. Ranbir Kapoor ticked the investigative agencies when he attended a ₹ 200-crore wedding in the UAE that happened in February. Now, comedian Kapil Sharma and actors Hina Khan and Huma Qureshi have been summoned in connection with the same.
The wedding was of Sourabh Chandrakar, one of the promoters of the online betting platform, who married in Ras Al-Khaimah in February. Reports say the entire ₹ 200-crore was paid in cash.
About the app:
For the unknown, the company named Mahadev app reportedly offers online platforms for alleged illegal betting in different live games including cricket, tennis, badminton, poker, and card games. The app, which has been operational for the past four years, is promoted by Sourabh Chandrakar and Ravi Uppal, who hail from Bhilai, Chhattisgarh. The duo operates this platform from Dubai.
The sources claimed that around 100 people, including celebrities and influencers, are under the ED’s scanner in the case and they all will be summoned by the officials soon. According to reports, the celebrities who attended Chandrakar’s wedding, which was organized in Dubai at a reported cost of Rs 260 crore, are also included in this list.
These celebrities are not facing allegations in the case; however, they will be questioned to determine their knowledge of the manner and sequence of payments received from the app’s creators. As per the ED’s findings, the Mahadev betting app was involved in money laundering through a complex network of undisclosed bank accounts.
Actor Ranbir Kapoor promoted the app through social media ads and accepted payments in cash, which the ED is treating as proceeds of crime. The ED had summoned him to their Raipur office on October 6. He has asked for two weeks’ time to appear before the central agency. It is not known whether the ED will grant his request.
The other celebrities who have been summoned reportedly performed at app promoter Sourabh Chandrakar’s lavish UAE wedding. Chandrakar has been accused of spending Rs 200 crore on the wedding in February 2023. This included payments to celebrities who performed at the wedding, five-star accommodation for guests and private jets to ferry relatives from India to the UAE. All payments were made in cash.
