Here is the first look of Deepika Padukone as acid attack survivor Laxmi in Chhapaak:
Recently Deepika just released one of the powerful images, it is the day when Deepika Padukone announced that she is all set to play acid attack survivor Laxmi Agarwal in Meghna Gulzar’s next film Chhapaak. Meghna is collaborating with Deepika Padukone for the first time. Her character in the film will be called Malti and it is based on the true real-life story of Laxmi Agarwal.
Check out the first look below:
she captioned the pictures: A character that will stay with me forever…#Malti
Besides the resemblance of looks, it is the intensity in Deepika’s eyes that won our hearts. In this picture, we can see sadness but there is also an undying hope to stand tall against all odds and never, ever give up in life.
While telling her experience of narrating the script to Deepika Padukone director Meghna Gulzar said: “It was a moment of serendipity when I asked for a meeting with Deepika. I had many conversations with myself that she just may not be interested in doing the kind of film that I was talking to her. And she wasn’t. She was looking to do something lighter after three intense films. But I didn’t have a light, romantic script for her. My film was based on acid violence. Of a woman who epitomized immense courage and strength, in the face of crippling adversity. It felt like a perfect fit. Deepika took on the film, the character, and me, in a heartbeat”
Laxmi survived an acid attack at the age of 15, the attack was done by a man because she refused to marry him. Since then she has been campaigning against acid violence and the sale of acids also won 2014 International Women of Courage award by the then US First Lady Michelle Obama.
The shooting will begin today in Delhi, the film will be produced by Fox Star Studios, Deepika Padukone’s own KA Entertainment and Meghna Gulzar’s Mriga Films. It will be Deepika’s first film under the banner.
Shah Rukh Khan will mark a guest appearance in the film, the movie will be released on 10th January 2020.
After looking at the poster people eagerly wait for the film to release:
