Here is everything you need to know about “Chakka jam” to be held on 6th Feb by farmers:
Farmers unions agitating for the repeal of Central farm laws announced a countrywide ‘chakka jam’ on February 6. They will block national and state highways for three hours in protest against the Internet ban in areas near their agitation sites, harassment allegedly meted out to them by authorities and other issues.
In a press conference at the Singhu Border, Union leaders said that they will block the roads between 12 pm to 3 pm on February 6. They also said that farmers have been “ignored” in the Union Budget 2021-22.
The farmers also complained that the government had cut off all communication by imposing internet shutdowns at protest sites along with shutting down power and water supply to the sites. They demanded immediate restoration of these services.
“The farmers are facing harassment. Even at the Ghazipur border, the power has been cut. Water tankers are not being allowed. Even if the water is being brought from outside, more barricades have been erected to cut the supplies. We also have a team of lawyers who will fight the cases of those arrested free of cost,” said farmer leader Dr. Darshan Pal, who himself faces arrest in the Republic Day violence case filed by the Delhi Police.
More details to be out soon.
