Finally, Hollywood’s award season for this year kick-started with 76th annual Golden Globes ceremony. It took place on Sunday evening at California’s Beverly Hills in Los Angeles. The function began with who’s who of Hollywood rocking the red carpet and then it turned into a great night. At the award show, there weren’t too many surprising wins or losses, but the big surprise was Green Book, an American comedy-drama, which scored three trophies including one for Mahershala Ali.
The hosts for the night were actress Sandra Oh, who Won Best Actress in TV Series, Drama, for Killing Eve, and actor-comedian Andy Samberg.
Universal’s Green Book, received three wins, in the best comedy, best supporting actor and best screenplay categories. Netflix’s Roma had two wins, in the foreign-language and director categories. And Fox’s Bohemian Rhapsody won the best drama and best actor categories.
Vice, the biopic on Former Vice President of the United States Dick Cheney, also held the maximum number of nominations in six categories but won only one for Christian Bale’s wonderful onscreen transformation as the white house patriarch.
Besides the wins and losses, the 2019 Golden Globes were a big moment for superhero movies and Hollywood celebrating diversity.
