Govt asked Google and Apple to remove it from Appstore:
Earlier this month, the Madras High Court asked the central government to ban the TikTok app, and now the app is officially taken offline. Yes, in India TikTok has been banned and you can’t download it anymore from your app store.
The Ministry of Electronics and Information Technology (Meity) has asked both Apple and Google to take the app down from their platforms. The hearing of the matter will begin from today in Madras High Court.
TikTok app is used both across the world and in India. And approximately 119 million users are Indian and most kids and adults. It is an app that lets you share short clips. The idea is to use dance or lip sync to background music or dialogues to create viral content. But users are uploading inappropriate content and the app faced repercussion for exposing younger audiences to such bad content.
Explaining its part, TikTok doesn’t agree with the accusations or the ban, calling it “disproportionate, discriminatory and arbitrary.” Without really accepting blame for the controversy, the company says it’s been working on stepping up its content filters and moderation and has removed “over 6 million videos that violated the ToS in India.”
We all must understand the proper use of an app to avoid creating such situations. It is a video sharing platform bot an adult site. The company employs more than 250 people in India and had plans for more investment as it expands the business.
