Check out the winners at IIFA 2017
International Indian Film Academy Award’s 18th edition was held on 15th July at MetLife Stadium, New York. The event was the most talked about the evening with Bollywood celebrities gathered to celebrate the success of movies of the previous year with congratulating the winners. The event was hosted by Karan Johar and Saif Ali Khan. Here is the list of winners who bagged the prizes and were the spark of the evening:
Best Film- Neerja:
Sonam Kapoor’s “Neerja” won the Best Film Award, the story was based on Neerja Bhanot, an air hostess who lost her life, saving people from a hijacked plane in Karachi.
Best Director- Anirudh Roy Chaudhary, Pink:
Anirudh Roy won it for Pink, a movie bringing forward the message of,“When a woman says NO, it is a NO”.
Best Actor in a comic role (Male)- Varun Dhawan, Dishoom
He made people laugh by his cuteness in Dishoom and here he comes with the Best Actor in a comic role award!
Best Actor (Male)- Shahid Kapoor, Udta Punjab:
Shahid Kapoor won this for his hard work and amazing performance in Udta Punjab.
Best Actor (Female), Udta Punjab and Style icon of the year- Alia Bhatt:
Alia Bhatt won two prizes and the evening was a sure dream come true moment for her.
Best Actress in supporting role- Shabana Azmi (Neerja)
Neerja is an amazing film showcasing the life of Neerja Bhanot an air hostess, and Shabana Azmi bagged the Best actress in supporting role for playing her mother in the film.
Best actor in supporting role (Male) – Anupam Kher, M S Dhoni: The Untold Story
M.S.Dhoni: The Untold Story is based on the life of Dhoni and Anupam Kher played the role of his father in the movie.
Best Debut (Male) – Diljit Dosanjh, Udta Punjab
He took to twitter to thank his fans and wrote, “Love my fans, Guys this is all because of you. Thanks, team IIFA and Udta Punjab”.
Best Performance in a negative role- Jim Sarbh, Neerja
Best Debutant (Female) – Disha Patani, MS Dhoni: The Untold Story
Disha Patani famous for her cute smile and who always be in talks for her good looks made it to The Best Debutant of the Year, Female.
Best Lyricist- Amitabh Bhattacharya, Channa Mere Ya
Best Playback Singer (Male)- Amit Mishra, Ae Dil Hai Mushkil
Best Playback singer (Female) – Kanika Kapoor, Udta Punjab, and Tulsi Kumar, Airlift
There was a tie for the best playback singer between these two beautiful ladies.
IIFA woman of the year- Tapsee Pannu
Tapsee Pannu won this for her bold performance in Pink, a film based on women.
Pritam won the Best Music Direction Award for “Ae Dil Hai Mushkil” and the night also had performances of Alia Bhatt, Salman Khan, Varun Dhawan, Sushant Singh Rajput, Kriti Sanon and much more.
