Barbenheimer gets real: Theatre plays Oppenheimer with Barbie Subtitles:
The wait is finally over, the biggest clash release of Hollywood Entertainment was done on 21st July 2023, Barbie’ and ‘Oppenheimer’, clashed in theatres on July 21. A new term ‘Barbenheimer’, a portmanteau of both the films’ names was also created by fans. While both films have different stories, the internet has been abuzz about this crossover. Meanwhile, a theatre in India took Barbenheimer quite seriously! A Twitter user claimed the theatre mistakenly played ‘Oppenheimer’ with ‘Barbie’ subtitles.
A Twitter user shared the post and wrote: “Friend of my cousin posted on Instagram that a cinema played Oppenheimer with Barbie subtitles (sic).” The image shows a scene from ‘Oppenheimer’ with subtitles from ‘Barbie’. This has gone viral now.

Both movies are receiving great reviews, the total box office collection of ‘Oppenheimer’ stands at Rs 30 crore, and ‘Barbie’s entire collection is Rs 11.50 crore. But, the box office scenario is different in the international markets. Greta’s film is doing well at the global box office.
