The Bombay High Court on Thursday stayed the Jiah Khan’s trial which is in a trial court, for the next two weeks, while hearing a petition filed by her mother Rabiya Khan. The petition points out anomalies in CBI’s report. The petition has been challenged the CBI report that categorised Jiah’s death as a suicide and not homicide.
In June 2013, Jiah Khan was found hanging in her room. Pointing at various inconsistencies the petition has sought additional information from a Special Investigation Team under the High Court. The CBI will be filing its reply in two weeks. The petition also seeks directions to enable FBI to assist this SIT as Jiah was a US citizen.
A week after her deat, Jiah’s boyfriend ‘Hero’ actor Sooraj Pancholi was arrested for allegedly abetting her suicide, but he was released on bail on July 2 after the High Court granted him bail.
