AIPS Asia, an organization representing Asian sportswriters since 1978, organized this award ceremony to honor Asian athletes who have outshined at the highest level.
Mary Kom, the 36-year old flyweight boxer, is the only woman boxer to have won a medal in seven World Championships and won her sixth gold at the World Championships in November 2018. Being named as the best Female Athlete shows at what success she sits and how highly she is regarded.
Representatives from over 30 countries took part in the event.
