We are now again in the state of unlocking and people are moving out now. Recently, the Himachal Pradesh government eased COvid-19 restrictions, and just after that tourists flocked to Shimla. Reports state that 5000 vehicles entered Shimla in the past 2 days. A heavy rush of tourists was witnessed on the Ridge and The Mall Road in Shimla. The police also charged challans on a few violators.
This sudden surge in tourists was seen days after the government made the negative RT-PCR test result no longer mandatory to enter Himachal Pradesh as Covid cases came down. Though, the state still requires a Covid e-pass for travel.
Within a few hours of the opening of the borders, long serpentine queues of vehicles were spotted at the entry points. As cops stopped the vehicles to examine the e-pass of travelers from other states, the traffic jam worsened.

The report added that Section 144 has been revoked and the shops will function from 9.00 AM to 5.00 PM from June 14 onwards. While 5.00 PM to 5.00 AM curfew remains for all, public transport with 50 percent capacity is allowed to run.
