It’s the grandest event in fashion! The 2024 Met Gala has kicked off on the red carpet at the Metropolitan Museum of Art. This year’s theme, “Sleeping Beauties: Reviving Fashion,” delves into the intersection of technology and fashion, exploring how it can rejuvenate garments that are deemed too delicate or aged to wear again.
The attendees graced the iconic steps of the museum adorned in attire that pays homage to the event’s “The Garden of Time” dress code. The thematic inspiration draws from a J.G. Ballard narrative where a count, facing a threatening mob at his castle, plucks a rose from his garden, causing time to decelerate until all blooms vanish. With the story’s dystopian essence complementing the exhibit’s fusion of past and present, anticipate a red carpet adorned with a spectrum of styles, ranging from florals to futuristic fashion—and perhaps even a nod or two to the tale of Sleeping Beauty.
This year, we witnessed a mix of familiar and fresh faces at the Met Gala, including the Kardashian-Jenner clan, Gabrielle Union and Dwyane Wade, and the ever-vibrant Lizzo, among other notable attendees. Indian who attended the Met Gala till now includes, Alia Bhatt, Isha Ambani, Mona Patel, Mindy Kaling, and Natasha Poonawalla.
