Checkout how Mira Nair’s mother responded to a photographer and its epic:
At the 1988 festival at the French Riviera, Dr Praveen Nair, Mira Nair’s mother walked in the red carpet and she was mistaken to be an actor of the film. She was questioned by a photographer and her reply is winning hearts online. Mira Nair had gone to the prestigious Cannes Film Festival to present her first feature film, Salaam Bombay. She was accompanied by her mother Praveen Nair. Praveen wore a beautiful red saree and was mistaken to be an actor from the film and was thereby asked by a photographer about which part she was playing in the film. Her poignant reply to him is been loved by everyone on the social media. She replied, “I’m the producer of the director.”
This moment was shared on Twitter recently by senior sports journalist and writer Joy Bhattacharya and people are in love with it:
Lovely story about Mira Nair’s mother, who had accompanied her for a screening of Salaam Bombay at Cannes. The paparazzi, seeing a distinguished looking lady in a sari, asked her what part she played in the film. She airily replied, ‘I’m the producer of the director.’

Salaam Bombay has won many accolades. The film won the Camera D’or and Prix du Public at the Cannes Film Festival in 1988.
