Movie review: Finding Fanny

Finding Fanny
Still from Finding Fanny

Finding Fanny is the most awaited film. The sizzling chemistry between Deepika Padukone and Arjun Kapoor is the talk of the town. Dimple Kapadia looks different and gave us more reasons to wait for this film to stop its release.

Director: Homi Adajania

Cast: Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor, Pankaj Kapur, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia, Ranveer Singh

Story:  Based in a Goan village, Angie (Deepika) plays Garbo’s (Ranveer) widow. She lives with her mom-in-law Rosie Eucharistica (Dimple), another widow. Like any other small village, everybody knows whatever is happening in other’s lives.  Happy on her own, Angie loves helping others and sets out to help Ferdi (Naseeruddin)find  the love of his life. She is accompanied by her mom-in-law, Savio (Arjun) and a painter Don Pedro Cleto Colaco (Pankaj) who has found his muse in Rosie.

Music:  Composed by Mathias Duplessy, Sachin-Jigar the music is rustic and Goan. Its quirky and fun. The opening track Fanny Re is a pleasant track,.

Shake Your Bootiya is a folk-fusion number and fun to listen to. The songs are good but nothing to stay forever type.

Why to watch:  Finding Fanny is not a comedy but you laugh with the characters. It has a lot of emotions and the power packed star cast, Naseeruddin Shah, Dimple Kapadia and Pankaj Kapoor with new ones Deepika Padukone, Arjun Kapoor and Ranveer Singh, essay them well.

Why to miss: If ‘different’ movies are not your cup of t ea. This film is not your regular Bollywood garb. Its refreshing.

Special mention:  Finding Fanny is a slow, light-hearted take on life, love and their philosophies.
