Animals not native to India face a lot of problems when people bring them home.
Many people love to keep pets at home but more often than not, we forget to think about their comfort. There are a few dog breeds that are not adapted to the Indian climate and many people still bring them home without making necessary arrangements.
This debate was picked up on Twitter and people shared how insensitive it is to bring breeds like Siberian Husky and Saint Bernard to the hot climate of India. Here are the tweets shared by people.
“Buying” pets is abuse. Buying a Husky in fvcking tropical countries is a bigger abuse.

A friend’s landlords in Gurgaon have a saint fucking Bernard. That poor baby cannot tolerate heat. And he’s a big dog with not enough space to walk to play. So he is angry all the time. And is therefore kept tied 24 hours a day. Unimaginable animal cruelty. So commonplace.

Istg I have seen people with huskies in Delhi and it pisses me off.
One of my friends here is taking care of an abandoned husky because previous owners couldn’t take care of it in hot weather 🙄 https://t.co/UmiaruxtIL— S a l ☀️ (@exoisweird) May 24, 2021
It’s cruel! Don’t know about other cities but what’s with the people in Mumbai buying Siberian huskies? Seen quite a few. Do the owners have any idea of the kind of sub-zero temperatures huskies are are supposed to live in? Or is it just let’s bring home a toy? https://t.co/iusm5Tn3qN

After this, people encouraged others to adopt dogs instead of buying them and giving a home to the many indie dogs and cats. Some people shared pictures of their adopted pets and they are too cute!
People have genuinely said the most fucked up shit about my indie like directly to my face, about how she just have diseases and how she’s ugly…all while having fucking Shih tzus pic.twitter.com/ESvG2nA9s6

Here’s my beautiful adopted baby Rosa. She was with us a short time before passing away. She was an extremely smart and delightful girl. But helped me get through a rough time. Adopt, don’t shop. pic.twitter.com/OGL68z2ZZv

After this discussion, some people also added that the pet owners who took the responsibility for their huskies and non-native breeds are doing their best and as long as there is no abuse, it is alright.
Do you agree?
