Twitter lights up with memes after PM Modi’s video message:
The number of cases in India has touched 2,301 marks on Friday and at least 400 of the cases have been linked to the Tablighi Jamaat congregation in New Delhi’s Nizamuddin. Today, PM Modi addressed the nation once again and has asked the people of the country to switch off the lights in their houses for nine minutes at 9 PM on 5th April and light lamps at their doors and balconies.
During his, 20-minute long video message, He PM Modi lauded the people for their cooperation in the 21-day lockdown to contain the spread of COVID-19. He said it set an exemplary example for the rest of the world. His message came a day after he held a meeting with the chief ministers of all states and asked them to “formulate a common exit strategy to ensure staggered reemergence of the population once the lockdown ends” on April 14.
Check out some key points from his address below:
- On April 5, he has urged people to stand in balconies or doors and light up a candle, torch, or flashlight of the phone to fight the darkness spread by a coronavirus.
- If everyone lights a diya, then we will realize the power of the light.
- He also asked people to stay inside their homes and not come out of their houses in groups.
- PM Modi has also asked people not to cross the Lakshman Rekha of social distancing. He asked people not to break social distancing under any circumstance.
- “The lockdown has completed nine days today. During this time, the way you have followed the guidelines is exemplary. The way you thanked the health workers on March 22 during Janata curfew has become an example worldwide. Many are following this across the globe,” the prime minister said.
- We have to move towards the light from the darkness created by a coronavirus. No force stronger than our spirit and enthusiasm,” he said.
- PM Modi also said we need to pursue light in the darkness caused by a coronavirus.
