Veteran actress Rati Agnihotri , who is married to Anil Virmani has filed a complaint at Worli police station in Mumbai against her husband for harassment and torture on Saturday night. In the complaint Rati said that her husband had beaten her up on March 7 over a dispute.
The 54-year-old actress, who stays in south Mumbai’s Worli area with her architect-businessman husband and the actor son Tanuj, had been suffering the violence for a long time, according to her complaint. She did not mention any specific reason as to why her husband tortured and thrashed her
The Worli police have recorded the statement of the actress and registered a case under Sections 498 (harassment to a married woman), Section 323 (punishment for voluntarily causing hurt) section 506 (criminal intimidation) and Section 350 (criminal force) of the Indian Penal Code.
The actress who has acted in several films, is remembered mainly for her role in the 1981 blockbuster ‘Ek Duje Ke Liye’.
