Actor Sanjay Dutt who was supposed to shift to Pune’s Yerawada jail will now stay in Arthur Road jail for the next one month.
After his surrender on Thursday to serve his sentence in the 1993 Mumbai serial blasts case, Dutt has been lodged in the high security prison at Arthur Road jail. Usually, the Arthur Road jail is used to house undertrials while convicted criminals are generally shifted to a central prison within the state.
According to a leading national daily Dutt’s Rizwan Merchant had approached the court on Friday, saying his client was being treated unfairly and asked for rectification of the situation. He also added that the actor should not have been kept in the barrack that was designed for a terrorist like Kasab.
