Sonakshi issues a stern warning to Mukesh Khanna for questioning her father Shatrughan Sinha’s upbringing
Bollywood actress Sonakshi Sinha has hit back at veteran actor Mukesh Khanna after he blamed her father, Shatrughan Sinha, for her inability to answer a question about the Ramayana on the TV quiz show Kaun Banega Crorepati (KBC) in 2019. The incident resurfaced recently when Mukesh made comments in an interview with Siddharth Kannan, suggesting that Shatrughan Sinha failed to teach Sonakshi about Indian mythology.
During her appearance on KBC 11, Sonakshi struggled to answer a question about whom Hanuman brought the Sanjeevani booti for in the Ramayana which led to widespread trolling at the time. However, Mukesh Khanna’s recent remarks reignited the controversy. In his interview, Mukesh indirectly referred to Sonakshi, saying, “It’s not Sonakshi’s fault; it’s her father’s fault. Why didn’t he teach his kids about their culture? Why let them become so modern?”
Reacting to the remarks, Sonakshi posted a detailed statement on her Instagram Stories. She expressed disappointment over Mukesh Khanna repeatedly bringing up the old incident for attention. “Dear Sir, Mukesh Khanna ji… I recently read a statement you made saying that it’s my father’s fault I did not answer a question about the Ramayana correctly on a show I attended many, many years back.”
Sonakshi pointed out that there were two contestants on the hot seat that day who couldn’t answer the question, yet only her name kept coming up. She attributed this selective targeting to “obvious reasons” without elaborating further.
Acknowledging that she “blanked out” during the quiz show, Sonakshi reminded Mukesh Khanna about Lord Ram’s lessons of forgiveness. “If Lord Ram can forgive Manthara, Kaikeyi, and even Ravan after the great battle, surely you can let go of this extremely small incident… not that I need your forgiveness.”
Sonakshi also issued a direct warning against questioning the values her father instilled in her. “The next time you decide to say anything about the values my father has instilled in me… please remember it’s because of those values that I have only said what I said very respectfully, despite your distasteful remarks.”
