An artist re-imagined Goddess Durga as Doctor killing “Coronasur”, it’s all over social media now:
It is that time of the year again when everyone is happy and there are positive vibes all around. West Bengal is all set to celebrate the festival of Durga Puja despite the pandemic, and photos of an idol depicted as a doctor killing the “coronasur” are all over social media.
The photos show goddess Durga, depicted as a doctor wearing a lab coat and equipped with a stethoscope, killing a coronavirus-shaped Mahisasur. Instead of the traditional trident, the goddess is seen holding a giant syringe that is being used to kill the demon.
The four children of the goddess have been reimagined as the frontline Corona-warriors. While Ganesha has been depicted as a police officer, Lakshmi has been dressed as a nurse, Saraswati has been represented as a teacher, Kartik has been portrayed as a cleaner.
Nittya Paul a Facebook user, shared the post from Matigara and said hat the idol had been made in Siliguri in North Bengal by sculptor Jiten Paul. However, there are also claims that the idol is from Jharkhand and Assam.
The post has been shared 69,000 times and the photos are being shared on other platforms also. Check out the post:
