Ever heard of gender neutrality? R. Balki’s passion project centers this theme only. Where ladKI, Kia (Kareena Kapoor Khan) is the earning member of the family and LadKA, Kabir (Arjun Kapoor) is a homemaker.
Kareena is an ambitious marketing manager while Arjun is a house husband. This is where you come to know that this a role reversed love story. Both of them genuinely attracted towards each other (opposites attract in every Bollywood film). When Kareena tied Mangalsutra on Arjun’s neck was a bit melodramatic. In a dance number Kareena holds Arjun in her arm and Arjun was wearing red heels.
When Kareena took Arjun for a meeting with her mother, mom asked ‘sex ho gaya na?’ Now this is actually a progressive take on relationships. The country who gave Kamasutra to the world is also the one where talking about sex publicly is a taboo. Here, mother’s progressively reforming question is worth a clap.
Arjun himself wants to stay at home and take care of their house while characters around him rant continuously to find a job and stop living in woman’s income. R Balki’s movies are revolutionary in nature though he never makes films with this intention. The best thing about trailer is it looks balanced without a touch of feminism. This epic trailer looks quite promising. Kareena and Arjun’s chemistry is mind-blowing and refreshing. Watch it here:
