Meeting someone from across the border always brings us happiness! And when we met the pretty designer Sania Maskatiya it was a delightful expirence. We met Sania at the opulent Vogue Wedding Show which was held over the weekend at Taj Palace, Delhi. Here is our small tête a tête:
So how does it feel to be part of this opulent Vogue wedding show?
Its great to be here! India is an interesting market and our clothes are surely suited for the Indian brides.
We have clothes ranging from heavy pearl work cape for a party to intricate rich red lenghas which work as bridal wear. How do you think Indian bridal trends can be defined?
In India a bride dresses up as who she wants to emulate on her wedding day. Lots of women want to look like a star and its huge! Dressing up as someone as a bride is a trend here in India.
Your work emphasises on traditional aspects like gotta pati, pearls, intricate embroidery. How do you think Indian bridal wear is different?
The Indian bridal wear is more about bling and volume. There are heavy Lenghas with rich embroidery and heavy dupattas. The volume is always on the heavier side and they are remarkably stunning.
Who would you like to dress up?
All of Bollywood! As a designer I’m not segmented into one style. From bridal ensemble to casual clothing, from capes to heavily embroidered jackets we have lots of variety.
Pakistani bridal trends, how do they differ?
Pakistan women do not prefer the Lengha choli combination on their wedding. They wear it on their sangeet but for wedding the women opt for longer blouses and intricate dupattas. The choli is longer in length.
